I believe this beauty is from the 1950s. I am venturing a guess that this horn was made in the 1940s, probably after Earl went back into producing his trombones on his own. I feel that the closed wrap gives a centered and focused articulation and tone to the large bore tenor. I love the sterling silver snakes on the tuning slide, ultra classy. It does have worn spots through the silver and there are some small dings and dents. It is in good condition and shows usual wear and tear from normal use. The JP233 Rath is John Packer's Bb/F Single Valve Bass Trombone and is suitable for musicians who are looking for a single trigger bass trombone. The valve is a CR hollow core open response rotary valve and works very well. $3400, Custom made inline thayer valve section by LA based repairman, Justin Jerome. It is a good playing instrument, has been used and does show some cosmetic wear. The 2nd valve linkage has its own fulcrum point that keeps the long linkage from flexing and giving it a proper pull, works very well. The mode 1670 was designed with George Roberts to be similar to a vintage Conn 70H. Stunning craftsmanship on this Thein Universal trombone. It features a removable red brass bell, inline hagmann valves, Rath hand brace, tuning sleeves for alternate tuning systems, 3 gold plated Rath contrabass trombone mouthpieces and a Glenn Cronkhite gig bag. This is an amazing playing 62H, among the best I've ever tried. $1200 with case, Beautiful Conn 8D, N Series, made in Elkhart. The trubore valve is open and free with good exchange on both the open side and F side of the trombone. It is soloistic with good resonance and timbre. $4500 with case and a few mouthpieces. It barks in the low dynamics, which will cut in a big band. $1200 with case SOLD, Here is a nice handmade sackbut by Ronald Collier from the early 1980s, based on the wide bore model from Meinl & Lauber. Comes with a nice case. This one is an early Bob Williams instrument, who was Earl's son and took over the business after Earl passed away. Pretty much every compensating euphonium in the world was based on this model Besson. This has a BII 7GYMT7 bell, which is a gold brass stem with a yellow brass flare, soldered rim with thin rim wire (A VERY COOL and RARE BELL) which was spun by Steve Shires. Sold with original case and a full compliment of mutes. All tubes are rolled, seamed and brazed. In Stock - get it fast! It has the original string linkage split thumb trigger. I think this one is from the late 1960s, guessing from the engraving. This F bass sackbut is a base model without decoration but it is highly functional and has a really beautiful and warm sound. A few years back, I had the opportunity to sell the original 1902 Conn BBb contrabass trombone owned by Roger Bobo (luckily it now resides in my museum, you can see photos of it there) but the period after it was sold and before I bought it back, I was having some serious separation anxiety. When approached about offering a "student" line of instruments, Bach responded by using the same parts as his professional "Stradivarius" line but assembling them with all brass parts (instead of the nickel trim of the high end model) and stamping them "Mercury". and has generous amounts of solid nickel trim. It is a stunningly beautiful horn. The model 62H was the "Gardell Simons" and featured two screw bell options, one with a 6" bell and one with a 7.5" bell. REDUCED $8700 with all the goodies. Sold with protec case. Designed in the 1970s, Fred Marzan worked with Swiss maker Willson on a line of euphoniums and tubas with unique design features both sonically and ergonomically. The sound is dense and focused and the instrument is easy to play. This is a fabulous playing instrument! In very nice condition and sounds beautiful. This is a fantastic playing euphonium with a classic British sound. The serial number dates it to 1965 and it may be one of the very last Mt Vernon made trombones. This particular model uses a Holton 169 idea of a removable 2nd D valve that plugs into the F attachment tubing. These have larger bells and play a bit more like a modern Bach instrument, but they retain the features desired in vintage bach trombones. It is VERY cool and plays great. In very good condition, a few small dings and scratches from normal use. Very clean, original condition Conn 8H, made in Texas just after the move from Elkhart. In the key of F A=440 with tuning slide to A=430. Recently overhauled and relacquered, only a few small dents remain. Overall in excellent condition with a few cosmetic scratches and a tiny dent in the tuning slide. Updated modern style ball and socket linkage has been grafted onto the original thumb trigger. SOLD. This is a fabulous contrabass trombone made by a legendary maker. 0 bids. The guts look to be from a vintage 8D, which could be a late N series or an early Texas R series it's hard to tell. This is a really tremendous playing jazzer and I'm having a hard time not keeping for myself (honest truth!) It has had two owners and is in good condition. The valve action is fast and quiet. Here is a new, demo model Shires Michael Davis Plus trombone. It is in very good condition with some minor wear in the usual spots. This is a great playing orchestral trombone that has a modern sound with a vintage blow. It's counterpart, the even more rare model 9 has an F attachment with a 9" bell flare (you can check out pictures of mine in my gallery section of this website). For many years it was the orchestra standard bass trombone, all the old time classic bass bone players used a TR180. It has a warm sound, good projecting color and easy flexibilty. The instrument has been modified with a custom bell shock mount, removing the original bracing. This model has a .547" slide and a 8.5" red brass bell. Slide action is fabulous, one of the nicest slides I've seen. SOLD $1400 with case, Every once in a while I get an instrument in stock that I like to call a "gigmeister" which basically means that its not a perfect looking trombone to attract attention or it might be an odd ball design. Kruspe trombones were famous for their "kruspe" metal, which was a ultra thin red brass alloy made specifically made by kruspe for their trombones and low brass. This bell section has a newer "dual bore" rotary valve offered from Shires. The bell on this one is sterling silver, but feels a bit thinner and more vibrant than most sterling King trombones I've tried. $1100 with case, Professional Jupiter Jazzer trombone, previously owned by Alex Iles. This is an original Larry Minick small bore "jazzer" trombone. $1450, The 1688CR is based on Conn 88H tapers but features a fully conical back bow and tuning in the slide. I find the nickel silver really terrific, as it takes a tremendous amount of sound before becoming edgy but responds very quickly and has a good center and core to the tone. The wonderful things about these early Williams horns are the engraving. This is one of the most desirable vintages and this particular one is in great shape and a terrific player. It doesn't compare to the modern high end sackbuts made by Egger, E.Meinl and Leuchter but it is a solid instrument that would be good for players on a budget looking to get into a historic alto. It is entirely made from red brass (the good pre WWII stuff!) Includes the original vinyl case. The 42BO has long been the orchestral workhorse for the professional trombonist. It has a gorgeous patina that instantly captures people's attention. It is in very good condition with no dents or dings. You can see why it's nicknamed the birdcage, its a bit of a Rube Goldberg piece of hardware but it works and its awesome! It has no slide lock, is a friction fit bell connection and has the original Lion's head engraving on the slide. The instrument did have some poor repair work done on the slide connector/leg coming out of the first valve. The concept being that the weight of the instrument is cradled in the palm of your left hand while you pull the levers of the valves towards you. Slide is very good condition with excellent action. $1450 with original case. Wonderful classic Conn sound, leaning towards the darker side. The 88H has long been the orchestral standard along with the Bach 42. The slide has very smooth and fast action. Includes two leadpipes. Sold without case. Handmade by Glenn Cronkhite in Berkeley California. The body is lacquered brass (as opposed to the silverplate they use now). SOLD, Here is an Earl Williams trombone, model 7, .500" slide without F attachment, 8" bell. It's been said that they "threw in whatever metal was lying around" when making the alloy, which adds to the mystic of this special material. $4000 SOLD, A very nice playing Shires Trombone indeed! The most desirable horns, like this one, come from his 1960s period in Burbank. The valve has an amazingly short throw and the response is even on the open horn and the F side. Slide is in excellent condition, as is the rest of the horn. It received a new top inner tube, had all dents removed, full buff and relacquer. These 90Gs are quite rare, as you can imagine they were only built for a short period of time and conceived for a specific client. This is one of the nicest jazzers to come into the shop in a while. It has no hardware. There are two valve options available for Michael Rath Custom trombones, both Swiss designed: the Ren Hagmann valve and the Willson Rotax valve. SOLD. Slide is a dual bore .535"/.578", silver-plated finish with a custom Miraphone mouthpiece. It is about a year old, has some very minor wear on the handslide grip. Includes original french case. These are real works of art, perfect assembly and craftsmanship. Price is $800 REDUCED without case, as is. Not only is it rare, but this trombone is in fantastic condition. If you're a fan of copper bells, don't pass this one up. REDUCED $3000 for BOTH tenors. The triggers have been modified to split configuration. The bell is made the old style, with the triangle gusset (which are superior bells in my opinion) with hand engraved garland. Valve clusters are sourced from a respected valve maker in Germany, while the remaining components are fabricated and assembled by Steve with meticulous detail. It has inline rotary valves with open wrap tubing. The bell is thin and responsive red brass with the half moon deco engraving, the slide has bronze outer tubes with thick cross braces, the tuning slide has the nickel silver bell guard and the entire horn is in very good vintage condition. This one currently has a dual bore .525/.547" dual bore SL2547 Gen II Conn slide, with one small shank lead pipe included. $8350 SOLD, The ultimate .500" bore trombone, The Earl Williams model 6. Slide is .530"/.580" with valve bore .567". $1900 and won't last long, A nice 1970s vintage Bach 36B with lightweight nickel silver slide. Gold brass was a significant upgrade cost from the NY era, so it's rare to see them. It is in D with a key for C. Includes a mouthpiece made of horn. This is a tremendous playing little sports car. It does have some scratches and minor wear from use. This is an amazing instrument and maybe one of the best alto trombones I've ever played. It is simply stunning to see. This euphonium hasn't seen much use. I can't say for sure that this one was made by Geyer, but I can say that the build quality is quite decent and could be a bargain German Romantic style tenor trombone. It has a one piece Minick bell flare, the valves are dependent and also stamped. Used by the legendary Rick Baptist and countless others, this model is versatile and lights up a microphone. Comes with a Cronkhite black cordura gig bag. Overall, a nice instrument for a first sackbut or sackbuttist on a budget that was a real one and not a "hackbut". His designs are replicated by every horn maker in the world and many of his horns are in use by the top professionals. REDUCED $675, Here's a nice vintage Bach New York trumpet, medium large bore, two piece nickel casing, french bead rim wire. Ok, I have your attention you want to know why you need a horn such as this one. This 1662 is in very good condition. The slide action is totally useable and since this Contra is on the smaller side, it doesn't take as much air as a traditional giant BBb. It would be great in a dixie band or similar recreation group. The valve section is open and even blowing, the action of the valves are fast and short. Original NY case included in very good shape. These are some of the highest quality trombones made. The horn also has a beautiful deco engraving on the bell. This one is a bell tuning model and measures to a .485" bore or a "model 4". Well folks, this is probably the oldest Bach New York trombone I've ever seen for sale anywhere. In very good condition and Alan has already broken it in for you lots of great notes still left in this one. In excellent condition, no repairs. In good used condition, some wear and minor dings in the slide crook. The sound this little trombone puts out is nothing short of unbelievable. Gary Greenhoe makes one of the best boutique rotary valves in the world. Comes with a Conn case. The CL2000 valves were developed by Christian Lindberg and are a unique design, giving free flow through both the open and valved sides of the instrument. All slides pull easily. It is silver plated finish and all stock. Price is $950, sold without case. It has some worn lacquer around the contact points. This is an interesting and rare instrument. Ready for some Brahms or Mahler. Barry mated this bell flare to an Elkhart Conn 78H neck pipe and slide and made a killer instrument in the process. I don't see the LT16MG combination often, and frankly I'm not sure why. These Jupiter trombones are becoming very popular. SOLD, This was Warren Luening's main Bb trumpet for a number of years. $1950 with case SOLD, Made by Dan Vidicon in Memphis, Tennessee. Price is $7500. Excellent cosmetic condition with no dents, some minor acid bleed around the rim. This is an Elkhart yellow brass bell from a model 72H with stacked rotors in F/D from a Conn Elkhart 73H. It was made at the Los Angeles shop and still has the prominent "williams" trademarks: curved handgrip, special water key, and curved bracing. Gorgeous Elkhart Conn 88H made in 1963/64, some say the best year of production for Conn 88H trombones. Despite this flaw, the horn plays extremely well. It is a professional model, .500" straight bore slide with 8" bell flare. Your purchases help youth music programs get the gear they need to make music. This is the model 1570CR by Zig Kanstul.
